In 94 I started working for Red Oak Realty in residential sales (snooze)    I am what you call a "townie."  I like to eat at Chez Panisse and complain about it....

Hey everyone,

     It's really hard to believe twenty years has passed -- I still feel young.  I just moved up to southern Oregon on March 1st of this year, to a small community of friends who bought land and are starting an organic farm and bakery.  Still trying to find my way, but it's looking more and more like working with plants, with my hands, is what makes me tick, and being surrounded by good friends, kids, etc., which is what I've found here. 

In between now and high school, I've been a wandering Jew; I went to school at UMass Amherst and stayed on in western Mass for awhile.  Then I came back, saved my pennies for a year and left to go travel abroad, mostly in Ireland and Israel, for almost 2 years.  Came back and temped in S.F. and the east bay for a few years, working dull admin jobs and learning gardening in my free time, as well as acting in a movie by our classmate Daniel Smith-Rowsey called "Lost Cat." 

In 2001 I moved to Green Gulch Farm Zen Center, near Muir Beach/Muir Woods in Marin, and did a six-month farm apprenticeship, ended up staying there for 3 years.  In that time I also dealt with cancer, and came out with only a few small dents (I'm cancer-free now).  Then in 2004 I moved down to Tassajara, a zen monastery/hot springs spa near Big Sur, and did hardcore zen practice for a year and a half. 

In the spring of 2006 I moved to Woodside, an hour south of SF, and lived on a beautiful 600-acre ranch overlooking the Pacific while I ran a 3-acre organic farm, growing food for two fancy bay area restaurants.  I quit that job last December, and after a few months of bouncing around I landed where I am now.
